Weston 178, New Fairfield 198
Coach Saltzgaber reports: “The Trojans traveled north to take on New Fairfield at River Oaks CC in Sherman. Weston emerged victorious 178-198, raising their record to 6-2 in the league and 8-2 overall."
"The team was without newly named WHS athlete of the month, Matt Lagana, who took the term scholar-athlete a bit too seriously and had to take an AP test. In his absence Wes Patel earned medalist honors for the fourth time (tying Lagana) with a stellar 38. Sam Landesman fired a 43. Mitch Patel shot a solid 48 while subbing for Lagana. Tommy Hurst, still battling a sore back, carded a 50. Grant Gulino shot 53. Tristan Meccay contributed a solid 48 from the 6.”
Weston 174, Pomperaug 174 (Weston wins on tiebreak)
Coach Saltzgaber reports: “The Trojans took on long time rival, undefeated Pomperaug, at Aspetuck Valley Country Club and emerged with a tiebreaker victory. Both squads had posted 174s.”
“Matt Lagana earned medalist honors for a SWC leading fourth time with a 40. Wes Patel bounced back from a mini slump with a 41. Sam Landesman shot a 45 and Grant Gulino carded a 48. Tom Hurst’s 51 bested the score of Pomperaug’s fifth man, giving the Trojans the victory. Mitch Patel shot a season best 47 in the sixth hole. The win stopped a two match losing streak and improved the season record to 5-2 in the league and 6-2 overall.”

Weston’s boys raised their record to 2-0 in the league and 3-0 overall.
Coach’s summary: “Weston’s score was 7 shots better than any other SWC team has posted this season. It was a dogfight for medalist honors, but Wes Patel’s 40 edged out Matt Lagana and Tom Hurst’s 41s. Grant Gulino and Sam Landesman followed closely behind with a 43 and 46, respectively.”
